Connect SMHUB Nano Zigbee2MQTT To Home Assistant

<section class="review-transcript"> <p><strong>Hi, I’m Tim, and thanks for watching this video.</strong> In this follow-up, we’re taking a look at the latest release from <strong>SMLIGHT</strong>, the <strong>SMHUB Nano Mg24</strong>, and I’ll show how to connect Zigbee devices directly to it and then link them into Home Assistant.</p> <p>Once logged into the SMHUB dashboard, either by using <code>http://smhub</code> or the device’s IP address, we can start adding Zigbee devices using the built-in <strong>Zigbee2MQTT</strong> controller.</p> <p>To add a Zigbee device, simply select Zigbee2MQTT from the menu. If you’ve used Home Assistant before, the interface will look very familiar. In this example, I’m using a smart plug with power monitoring, which allows energy usage, voltage, and current data to be passed into Home Assistant.</p> <p>After resetting the smart plug, all that’s required is clicking <em>Permit Join</em> in Zigbee2MQTT and powering the device on. Within seconds, the device appears in the Zigbee2MQTT dashboard, showing link quality and activity status.</p> <p>Once the device is added to Zigbee2MQTT on the SMHUB Nano Mg24, the next step is linking it to Home Assistant. This is done by opening the Zigbee2MQTT app settings and configuring the MQTT broker connection.</p> <p>Instead of using <code>localhost</code>, you simply enter the IP address of your Home Assistant instance, along with the same MQTT username and password you use for Home Assistant. After enabling Home Assistant integration and experimental events, the settings are saved and Zigbee2MQTT is restarted.</p> <p>On the Home Assistant side, the Mosquitto MQTT broker is installed from the add-on store. Once started, Home Assistant automatically discovers the MQTT integration.</p> <p>After refreshing the Zigbee2MQTT interface on the SMHUB, the device reappears as expected. Back in Home Assistant, MQTT is detected, and with just a few clicks, both the Zigbee2MQTT bridge and the smart plug are added.</p> <p>This confirms that devices are successfully passed from the SMHUB Nano Mg24 through Zigbee2MQTT and into Home Assistant. From this point, devices can be controlled either directly from the SMHUB interface or inside Home Assistant, just like any other integration.</p> <p>The key takeaway here is how easy this process is. With the SMHUB Nano Mg24, there’s no need for a separate Zigbee dongle, as everything is handled directly on the hub.</p> <p>Thanks for watching.
