How it works. In plain words.
STEP 1
Wire it to your strip
The controller sits between your power supply and your LED strip. A few screw-in wires — no soldering — and the quick-start guide shows exactly what goes where.
STEP 2
Power it your way
Use a USB-C charger (PD or QC), a DC barrel supply, or add the PoE module for a single Ethernet cable that carries both power and data. It drives 5 V and 12 V strips alike.
STEP 3
Paint with light
Join your Wi-Fi (or plug in the Ethernet module) and control everything from your phone, your browser or your smart home. Add the microphone and your lights dance to the music.

Two LED channels by default, expandable to six over GPIO, plus a spare header for your own sensors. Flash WLED, ESPHome or your own ESP32 build over the built-in USB bridge.

The A1-SLWF-09 ships as a Wi-Fi controller. These keyed modules snap onto dedicated headers to add wired networking, single-cable power or sound reactivity. None are included in the base bundle — add the ones your project calls for.
LAN8720
Ethernet module
A proper wired 10/100 connection for installs where Wi-Fi is unreliable or unwanted. Snaps onto the Ethernet header.
802.3af
PoE module
Power and data over a single Ethernet cable — no separate supply, no wall wart. Pairs with the Ethernet module for a one-cable install.
ICS-43434
Microphone module
A digital MEMS microphone, pre-configured for sound-reactive WLED. Your lights follow the music the moment it’s plugged in.
Expansion
Sensor / air header
A spare header and GPIO for external sensors and DIY expansion — from an air-quality sensor to your own ESPHome creations.

Quick questions.
Q-01
Do I need the Ethernet or PoE module?
No — Wi-Fi is built in, so the controller works out of the box on your wireless network. Add the Ethernet module only if you want a wired connection, and the PoE module if you want to power it over that same cable. Both are sold separately.
Q-02
Is the microphone included?
The microphone is a click-in add-on for sound-reactive effects, not part of the base bundle. Add it when you want your lights to react to music.
Q-03
Which LED strips will it drive?
Popular addressable strips from 5 V to 12 V — WS2812B, SK6812, APA102 and compatible types. Two channels by default, expandable to six over GPIO.
Q-04
Do I need a hub or a subscription?
No. WLED runs on the board itself; you control it from a free app or any browser. Nothing to pay monthly, nothing in the cloud.
Q-05
Can I use it with Home Assistant or ESPHome?
Yes. It’s recognised natively by Home Assistant and the WLED apps, and you can flash ESPHome or Bluetooth-proxy firmware whenever you like.
Q-06
How do I flash or update it?
Over the built-in USB-to-UART bridge on the Type-C port — no external programmer — and over-the-air after that.
