SMHUB-OS v1.0.0.beta2
Beta 2 is all about stability and recovery. It introduces the Recovery Console, fixes reboot bugs, polishes the dark theme, and lays the groundwork for the ultra-lightweight PicoClaw AI assistant on the hub.
✨ New Features
- Recovery Console — download logs and backups directly from the smhub-flasher recovery console, to safely rescue data from an unbootable device before a factory reset.
- Dynamic ports — moved stunnel to proper OpenRC scripts and adjusted the config to reliably handle dynamic port assignments from an app-provided schema.
- PicoClaw support 🦀 — system support for running the ultra-lightweight PicoClaw personal AI assistant on-device (installable from the apps page).
- Dark theme 🌑 — the frontend UI now features a beautifully polished dark theme.
🔧 Bug Fixes
- Reboot reliability — safer power-down of USB/networking during a restart, preventing occasional freezes.
- Boot stability — automatic filesystem check (fsck) for the MISC partition during early boot to prevent startup halts after OTA updates.
- Log permissions — fixed permissions/ownership on several system log files (e.g. dmesg).
- Package management — clarified the Python virtual package description for cleaner opkg status reporting.
- Backups — restored the missing xz package that broke backup restore in beta1.
Note to beta testers: check out the new smhub-flasher — for a Type-C re-install it completely replaces the old tools.
