SLZB Integration — two major updates with Home Assistant 2026.8
Home Assistant 2026.8 brings two big SLZB milestones: supported SLZB U-series devices now work as a Bluetooth proxy directly in SLZB-OS — alongside Zigbee or Thread, over Ethernet — and the official SMLIGHT SLZB integration has reached Platinum, the highest quality level in Home Assistant.

Home Assistant 2026.8 is out — and it ships two milestones we are genuinely proud of. One device. Zigbee or Thread and Bluetooth. Over Ethernet. Fully integrated with Home Assistant.

1 — SLZB is now a Bluetooth Proxy, directly in SLZB-OS
Supported SLZB U-series devices can now scan for Bluetooth advertisements and forward them to Home Assistant over Ethernet — while continuing to do their day job as a Zigbee coordinator or a Thread border router.
That means one SLZB can work simultaneously as:
- a Zigbee coordinator or a Thread border router
- a Bluetooth proxy
- all over Ethernet
No separate Bluetooth proxy device. No extra ESPHome installation. No reflashing. Open the SMLIGHT integration, select a Bluetooth scanning mode, and it is ready. As far as we know, SLZB is the only device family that handles Zigbee/Thread and a Bluetooth proxy over Ethernet in a single box.
Setup takes a minute — the walkthrough is in the integration docs: Bluetooth remote adapter (proxy).
2 — The SMLIGHT SLZB integration reached Platinum quality
The official SMLIGHT SLZB integration has achieved Platinum — the highest quality level in Home Assistant. Platinum stands for extensive testing, strong documentation, high reliability, robust error handling and a polished user experience. Only two integrations reached this level in the 2026.8 release — and SMLIGHT SLZB is one of them.
This is a huge milestone for our team — and for the community whose reports, reviews and pull requests shaped the integration every step of the way. Thank you.
