Flashing over USB
- Connect the controller to your computer with a USB-A to Type-C cable.
- Open the SMLIGHT / WLED web-flasher in a Chromium-based browser and select the ESP8266 build.
- Choose the firmware and click Flash. The built-in USB-UART bridge handles it automatically.
If flashing fails to initialize
- Install / update the USB-serial drivers, especially on laptops.
- Use a USB-A to Type-C cable (not Type-C to Type-C).
- Try another computer, or reboot the device and the browser.
Manual flash mode
If automatic flashing does not start, hold the on-board button (GPIO0) while connecting USB to force the ESP8266 into bootloader mode, then release and flash.
OTA Update (WLED)
- Open the device web interface.
- Go to Config → Security & Updates.
- Select Manual OTA Update and upload the ESP8266
*.binfile.
