We have this because where we'd put our home automation isn't in the best place (radio-wise) to communicate with the devices that we'd wish to have controlled. With this doodad, we plug the device into a PoE powered port, point at the automation, and have great radio stuff (that also works when we need to swap to the backup home automation stuff)!
