I purchased my Midea U-shaped AC based on reviews, efficiencies, and the potential to be quiet. I wasn't even aware that it had a WiFi feature until it arrived. I searched a bit and found a home assistant integration that required getting the token from the (blackbox) app, and that, even then, a mock cloud needs to be set up to be able to cut it off from the outside. After a little more research, I discovered this smartlight device. I installed the AC and smartlight dongle today. The dongle could not have been easier to install. Just plug it in, and slide it from the side of the clip and it fits perfectly. An easy configuration connected it to my WiFi network, and the dongle immediately showed up in my home assistant configuration as a new device. Opening it in ESPhome integration shows all of the climate controls you could imagine. It also exposes the temperature, humidity and power usage sensors. How cool is that? I could not be happier.
