The A-SLWF-11 has a built-in infrared receiver (on GPIO4), so you can control your lights with the supplied IR remote — handy when Wi-Fi or the app isn't convenient. The remote is a standard multi-function WLED-style handset with power, effect, speed, brightness, colour and music keys.

Enabling the remote in WLED

  1. Open the WLED web interface → Config → LED Preferences.
  2. In the Infrared section, set the IR GPIO to 4.
  3. Select the matching IR remote type (this handset behaves like WLED's 24-key RGB profile; if some keys don't respond, try the other 21-/24-/40-key options).
  4. Click Save, then point the remote at the controller and test the buttons.

Button reference

ButtonFunction
On / OffTurn the LED output on / off (standby). Off does not power down the controller.
AUTOStart automatic effect cycling — WLED steps through effects on its own.
MODE+ / MODE−Switch to the next / previous effect (mode).
SPEED+ / SPEED−Increase / decrease the current effect's speed.
☀ (upper) / ☀ (lower)Brightness up / down.
R · G · BSet a pure red, green or blue. Repeated presses can step through shades on some remote profiles.
Colour swatches
(yellow, cyan, purple, magenta, dark blue, green, red)
One-touch solid colours for quick scene setting.
WSet white / warm output (full white on RGB strips).
COLORReturn to solid-colour mode / cycle the colour palette.
♪1 / ♪2Sound-reactive ("music") modes 1 and 2.
🔒 (lock)Lock the remote / freeze the current setting to prevent accidental changes.

Sound-reactive keys need a microphone The A-SLWF-11 has no built-in microphone, so the ♪1 / ♪2 keys only produce sound-reactive effects if you add an external analog microphone on the ADC pin (see §9 Pinout) and flash a sound-reactive ESP8266 build.

Tips

  • Keep a clear line of sight to the controller's IR window; typical range is a few metres.
  • If the remote is dead out of the box, pull the plastic battery-insulation tab (or fit a fresh coin cell, e.g. CR2025).
  • Exact key behaviour depends on the selected WLED IR profile. For full control you can define a custom IR mapping (an ir.json file) — see the WLED docs.
