How it works. In plain words.

Three steps
One HDMI port
STEP 1
Plug into a spare HDMI port
The SLWF-08 goes into any free HDMI input on your TV or AV receiver. HDMI-CEC — the little control channel every HDMI cable already carries — does the rest.
STEP 2
Power it over USB-C
A single USB-C cable powers it — often straight from the TV’s own USB port, so nothing extra is on show.
STEP 3
Automate everything
It joins Home Assistant over Wi-Fi. Now “movie night” can dim the lights, switch the input and turn the soundbar up — in one tap.

Does my TV support HDMI-CEC?
Almost certainly — nearly every TV made in the last decade does, though makers rename it: AnyNet+ (Samsung), Bravia Sync (Sony), Simplink (LG), Viera Link (Panasonic) and so on. Enable “HDMI-CEC” in your TV settings and you’re set.

How is it powered?
Over USB-C. Many TVs have a spare USB port right beside the HDMI inputs, so it often needs nothing more than a short cable (not included).
Q-03
Can it control my soundbar and receiver too?
Yes — any device on the HDMI-CEC bus. Volume and mute usually route to whichever device is handling audio.
Q-04
Do I need a cloud account?
No. It runs locally through Home Assistant over ESPHome — private and offline-friendly.
