Warning — power off first Before making any wiring connections, ensure the A-SLWF-11 and all power sources are completely powered off. This prevents electrical hazards and protects both the controller and the LED strip.

Powering the A-SLWF-11

The controller can be powered three ways. Use only one power source at a time.

Warning — one source only If powering via the DC plug or screw terminal, do not also connect USB Type-C at the same time. Use either Type-C or DC / screw terminal.

Supply voltage Match the supply to your LED strip's rated voltage (e.g. 5 V supply for a 5 V strip). The exact maximum input voltage is (TBC) — confirm against official SMLIGHT documentation before using higher-voltage strips.

LED Strip Connection

The Data and Clock outputs are provided at a 5 V logic level, so they drive 5 V-logic strips directly and are compatible with common higher-voltage strips whose data input is 5 V-tolerant (e.g. WS2815).

  • 3-wire strips (VCC, Data, GND) — connect Data only.
  • 4-wire strips (VCC, Data, Clock, GND) — connect both Data and Clock.

These rules must always be satisfied:

  • Connect the strip's Data (and Clock, if any) to the controller.
  • Connect a common GND between controller and strip.
  • VCC may come from the controller's terminal or from a separate supply on long runs (as long as grounds are shared).

Tip For long runs, inject power every few tens of metres to avoid voltage drop, keep data wires short, and always share a common ground between controller, strip and any separate power supply.
