WINDOW OPENER (DEVELOPMENT)

WHERE THE IDEA CAME FROM

  • We were loking for some window opener that can:
  • Rotate the handle
  • Push and pull window
  • Work with smart home ecosystems like Home Assistant via WiFi or Zigbee.
  • We found different solutions on the market, but none of them suits our needs, have a look on them:

DIY SOLUTIONS

Advantages:

  • Can be integrated into smart home systems like Home Assistant.

Disadvantages:

  • Works only for push/pull.
  • Wire powered only.
  • Availability, support, reliability.

 

Abus FCA300

Advantages:

  • Duplicate handle opening with manual handle.
  • Solid metal construction, reliable.

Disadvantages:

  • Works as a lock, can’t push/pull the window.
  • Works with its own remote control/ecosystem.

 

Homematic WinMatic 

Advantages:

  • Rotates the handle and push/pull the window.
  • Battery powered.
  • Screen with feedback for users.

Disadvantages:

  • Works with its own ecosystem and does not support Home Assistant etc.
  • Availability and price.

 The best available solution.

Chain Actuators

Advantages:

  • Window can be opened for a big position.

Disadvantages:

  • No lock, just push/pull.
  • Wire powered.
  • Cant easely disassemble for manual push/pull.
  • Does not support smart home ecosystems like Home Assistant.

 

The best available solution is a WinMatic from HomeMatic (link), although it has its own disadvantages. So we took it as a role model for our product.

  • Supporting window tilt and turn and regular window open modes.
  • Support both right-open and left-open windows.
  • Adjustable to the window-frame wight to support different window models.
  • Battery powered with the option to re-charge over small solar panel.
  • Easy to integrate into smart home ecosystems like Home Assistant.

REGULAR AND TILT-AND-TURN

The device can open your window in both modes – regular open and tilt-and-turn open. You can do it through the web interface or by buttons.

RIGHT- & LEFT-OPEN MODE

Device can easely be configured for left-opened windows and right-opened windows.

ADJUSTUBLE TO FRAME WIGHT

YDifferent window models/producers have different window frame wight. In our window opener you can set wight from 50 mm to 70mm.

SMART MODE

Althought it works with the smart home automation systems like Home Assistant, you can set up to follow the temparature, or schedule or both or set up some own automation rules and triggers .

POWERING

BATTERY POWERED

If you want to get rid of wires – that is wat exectly you need. Battery set lets you to experiance a treu non-wire experience. Batteries is rechargeable and replaceble. 

SOLAR POWERED

In additional to the batteries, you can plug-in a thin solar panel and charge your device fromt he solar energy. Decrease your footprint on the environment!


DC-PLUG IN

Just in case, you can also power your device or recharge the batteries over the DC plug. Just plug it in. Included in the box.

PROGRAMMER AUTOBOOT

Built-in USB/UART programmer with autoboot lets you re-flash your device without any external equipment.

 


LEDS FOR ITERACTION

LED provide the user with feedback and statuses on his actions. Easy to follow, easy to understand.


BUTTONS

For itteraction with the users – you can use the buttons. Even more, it provides with feedback being connected to the LEDs.
